Understand the "WHY" behind your child's challenges
Expert evaluations and follow-up supports for children, teens, and adults who have ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, and learning differences.

You Know Something’s Off
You've been paying attention. Now you need someone who can help you connect the dots. You're not alone, and you're in the right place.
You watch them struggle at school, at home, or with friends, and you can't help but wonder whether they'll lead independent, successful, and happy lives.
Everyone tells you something different. The school, the pediatrician, your family, the internet. You want one clear path forward, not ten half-answers.
You want someone who will actually see your whole child, someone who can translate what's happening in your child's brain into strategies you can use on Monday morning.

Clear Answers &
Actionable Next Steps

An evaluation is only useful if it leads somewhere real.
Our Evaluations Lead To:
A child who understands how their own brain works and can start to advocate for themselves.
The relief of being heard as a parent, and a clearer picture of how your child experiences the world.
A diagnosis that opens doors to school services, accommodations, and outside support.
A clear roadmap you can actually follow, with options for ongoing support from our team as you put it into action.

Frequently Asked Questions
Think of it as the difference between a snapshot and a deeper understanding. A psychoeducational evaluation gives you a clear snapshot of your child's academic performance and cognitive abilities, focused on quantitative test results. A neuropsychological evaluation goes further. It still includes those scores, but it also examines the brain-based processes behind learning and behavior, including attention, memory, executive functioning, language, and emotional functioning. And it looks at the qualitative side of how your child works: their problem-solving strategies, effort, impulse control, and how they adapt when something is challenging. That combination often reveals why your child is struggling, not just where. At PEC Group, we offer both, and we'll help you figure out which one fits your child during your consultation call.
Most families come to us because something feels off and they can't quite name it. It might be struggles with reading, trouble focusing, emotional outbursts, social challenges, or a teacher suggesting a second look. You don't need to have it figured out before reaching out. If you're noticing something and wondering whether an evaluation would help, a quick conversation with us can help you decide.
Most of our evaluations run on a 45-60 day timeline from your first intake meeting through the final review. The exact length can vary, and we'll give you a clearer picture of the timeline once we understand what your child needs.
Once your evaluation is complete, you'll get a full written report and a review meeting to discuss everything in plain language. Within a month of that review, you'll also have a follow-up call with our Family Education Specialist to help you put the recommendations into action. We can also provide ongoing coordination with your child's school or outside providers as part of a follow-up support plan.
The first step is a free consultation call. You’ll tell us what's going on. We’ll listen and ask questions. Together, we’ll determine whether an evaluation or another form of support is the right fit. No pressure, no commitment, just a conversation.
We evaluate and support children, teens, and young adults from age 3 through college. That includes everything from early learning concerns in preschoolers to testing accommodations for the SAT, ACT, LSAT, MCAT, ISEE, and Bar exam.
Yes. Our team includes several bilingual clinicians who conduct evaluations in Spanish, including Karen Veinbergs, a native Spanish speaker born in Mexico City. Our bilingual evaluations take cultural and linguistic diversity into account, as well as factors like immigration and acculturation history. That matters when you're trying to tell the difference between a learning challenge and a language development issue.
Like other practices that offer similar services, PEC Group is an out-of-network provider, so we don't accept insurance directly. This is because our work is educationally related rather than medically related, which is how Licensed Educational Psychologists operate across the field. That said, some evaluations uncover medically related challenges that can open the door to reimbursement from your insurance provider. We're happy to provide a superbill you can submit, and we'll walk you through all our fees and payment options during your first call so there are no surprises.
Our office is in Sorrento Valley at 5405 Morehouse Dr., Suite 230, San Diego, CA 92121. We're within a 45-minute drive of most San Diego County neighborhoods and see families from across the county, with some traveling from across the state, including from San Francisco, LA, and Orange County.
We’ll Figure This Out Together
You don't have to walk this alone. Our team is here to help you make sense of what you're seeing, find the answers you need, and bridge the gap between worry and a real plan.
